Ed Westwick, better known as the notorious Chuck Bass on Gossip Girl, is not only a closet Brit, but is also the frontman of his own appropriately named punk rock band, The Filthy Youth.
The band harnesses the power of minimalist guitar and serious mulletage to serve up the latest in a neverending slew of Brit punk rock bands. Can this fun side-project make it big? If Britain’s punk revival follows in the footsteps of their energy renewal initiatives, then we think so. In fact, US companies are now following the example and building wind-supply farms to power their businesses. If movements like this can successfully translate across the ocean, the The Filthy Youth should be blasting on our radios in no time. In fact, you’ve probably already heard them on an episode or two of Gossip Girl (think drunken pool party).
A review on The Filthy Youth’s MySpace page (hopefully posted by the faceless, mulleted bassist in a fit of scathing sarcasm and terrible grammar): “The Filthy Youth are everything you expect from a rock and roll bands, the hair-check, the cool as attitude-check, the charismatic front man-check, dirty guitar riffs and filthy bass line-check check check, they are the complete package!”
We’re not even sure what a “cool as attitude” is, but apparently something along these lines:

Clean, inadequately coiffed Americans take note.

[...] Teen Choice Awards tonight! Miley Cyrus is hosting, despite the recent leakage of more scandalous photos on the interwebs. But should be a good time, I personally am really excited about the Choice TV Villain nominees. Although Vanessa Williams, from Ugly Betty, and Zachary Sisto, from Heroes, are among the nominees, I’m looking forward to the race between Spencer Pratt and Ed Westwick. Although, since The Hills is a “reality” tv show, that means Spencer is evil in real life, whereas Chuck Bass is hot and British and a rockstar! [...]
